What are the symptoms of a weak moon in astrology?
Published 1 August 2026
In astrology, the Moon from Krishna Paksha Panchami (fifth day of the dark fortnight) to Shukla Paksha Chaturthi (fourth day of the bright fortnight) is considered a weak Moon; similarly, a Moon in Trik houses, meaning the 6th, 8th, or 12th houses, a Moon in Scorpio (Vrishchik) sign, and a Moon that is low/weak by degrees is considered weak. The Moon is considered the significator planet of illusion (maya), motherly love, mother, liquid substances, water, emotions, imagination, memory, etc.
When the Moon is weak in a horoscope, its effects are seen in the mental and emotional life of the person. For example, a person's mind remains constantly unstable, thoughts change frequently, small things affect the mind, the person becomes oversensitive, doubts arise regarding one's own capabilities, the person worries unnecessarily about the future, insomnia, having strange dreams, estrangement in the relationship with the mother, loss of mental peace, and the mind getting scared without any reason — such predictions are observed when there is a weak Moon in the horoscope. To attain peace of mind, one should practice Trataka (gazing meditation) and view the full Moon (Pournima Moon).
