How to check the vastu of a flat?
Published 1 August 2026
As a Vastu consultant and Vedic astrologer with more than 22 years of experience, I've noticed that many flat owners worry unnecessarily about Vastu. They often think, "Since I live in an apartment, can Vastu even be checked properly?" The answer is absolutely yes.
In fact, most people today live in flats rather than independent houses, and Vastu principles can still be applied effectively.
Whenever someone asks me to check the Vastu of their flat, the first thing I look at is the main entrance. Think of it as the gateway through which energy enters your home. After that, I check the location of important areas like the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, balconies, and the mandir.
For example, the North-East is generally considered a good location for a prayer area, while the South-East is traditionally linked to the kitchen. Similarly, the South-West is often preferred for the master bedroom. These placements help create a sense of balance within the home.
But here's something I've learned from years of consultations: no flat is perfect.
I remember meeting a family who were convinced their apartment had serious Vastu defects because they had watched several videos online. They were stressed and considering selling the property. When I actually reviewed the layout, I found that most of the so-called "problems" were minor. A few practical adjustments and a change in perspective made a huge difference.
That's why I always tell people not to become obsessed with finding faults in their home. Vastu is meant to improve your living environment, not create anxiety.
A while ago, I came across Astrochitra while exploring astrology and Vastu resources. What I liked was their practical approach — they focus on understanding the overall energy of a home instead of scaring people with complicated doshas and defects.
If you want to check the Vastu of your flat, start by identifying the entrance direction and reviewing the placement of major rooms. More importantly, remember that a clean, organised, and peaceful home often contributes just as much to positive energy as Vastu itself.
