Why is the placement of the 9th lord so important for luck and prosperity in Vedic astrology?

Fortune (Bhagya) and Action (Karma) mean the 9th and 10th houses in a birth chart. In life, because of fortune, action occurs, and because of action, fortune occurs; a person experiences this continuous, uninterrupted journey based on the writings/destiny of births after births.

In astrology, the 9th house itself is referred to as Lakshmi Sthan (the house of wealth/goddess Lakshmi) or Bhagya Sthan (the house of fortune). The final point of the Dharma Trikona (righteousness trine) in a birth chart is the house of fortune, and its lord is referred to as Bhagyash (Lord of Fortune).

When the position of the Lord of Fortune (Bhagyash) in the birth chart is excellent, the person always receives the support of fortune. For example, when the Lord of Fortune is in the 1st (Lagna), 5th, or 9th house, or placed in a Kendra (cardinal) house in the birth chart, such a combination indicates excellent fortune. When the Lord of Fortune is located in the 1st or 5th house, and such a Lord of Fortune is in a friendly sign and belongs to a sign of the same element, or if it is in its own house, meaning in the house of fortune (9th house) itself, it becomes highly auspicious and fruitful.

Kendra houses in a birth chart indicate struggle. When the Lord of Fortune is in a Kendra house, it indicates the rise of fortune after working hard for some time. That is why the 1st, 5th, 9th, and Kendra houses are considered excellent houses for the Lord of Fortune to be located in. Conversely, the 2nd, 6th, 8th, and expenditure (12th) houses are considered unfavourable houses for fortune. When the Lord of Fortune is located in these houses, it can be interpreted as more hard work and minimal fortune.

Because the 2nd house is the 6th house away from the Lord of Fortune's own position (the 9th house) and since the 2nd house is a Maraka (killer/inflicting) house, the environment here is unfavourable for the Lord of Fortune. Similarly, since the other Trik houses — the 6th, 8th, and 12th — are Trik (difficult) houses, the Lord of Fortune being in an unfavorable condition here results in getting unfavorable outcomes because it becomes weak (devoid of strength) here; due to this, there is an extreme delay in receiving divine help in the form of fortune, and sometimes a person does not even receive the proper fruits of their hard work.
