Krittika is a Tri-pada (three-footed) nakshatra and its first quarter (charan) is in the Aries sign while the other three quarters are in the Taurus sign, the lord planet of this nakshatra is the Sun (Ravi), whereas Rohini is a Chatus-padi (four-footed) nakshatra and all its four quarters fall in the Taurus sign and the lord of the nakshatra is the Moon (Chandra). There is a contradiction in the nature of Krittika and Rohini; one is a Sun-dominant while the other is a Moon-dominant nakshatra.

In Krittika, the Sun gives neatness, harsh speech, [qualities of an] excellent surgeon doctor, while due to Rohini it gives a grand personality and a somewhat gentle nature.

In Krittika, Mars indicates courage, a competitive attitude, proficiency in outdoor sports, while in Rohini it indicates strong willpower and good relationships. In Krittika, Venus gives an artistic viewpoint, knowledge creation, while in Rohini it gives love, opulence, and material happiness. In Krittika, the Moon indicates emotional intensity, not expressing one's thoughts openly, while in Rohini it indicates highly auspicious results, excellent popularity, and excellent relations with relatives.

In Krittika, Saturn gives hard work [and] responsibility, while in Rohini it gives patience, success-fame with delay, and stability. Krittika is a nakshatra of the fire element, whereas Rohini is of the earth element and a nakshatra of the Moon, therefore both these nakshatras are completely contradictory; Krittika means radiant and harsh like fire, while Rohini is a nakshatra that is a significator of illusion, emotions, beauty, and prosperity.
